The Potter-Randall Special Crimes Unit is investigating a homicide after the victim of an Oct. 5 assault died Thursday of injuries suffered during the attack, unit coordinator Lt. Erick Bohannon said.

Clinton Norton Jr., 40, died of complications of blunt force trauma to the upper body, according to preliminary results of an autopsy ordered by Justice of the Peace Thomas Jones.

The suspect in the Oct. 5 assault, Blake Remington Welch, 24, was arrested Oct. 17 on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and booked into Potter County jail, Bohannon said.
