Incident reports released Monday by the Abilene Police Department include the arrest of a man after police said he pointed a gun at an individual. The victim told police the man first did this at the rest stop on Interstate 20 in Callahan County, then followed him to a convenience store in Abilene.

Math instructor receives Amarillo College’s highest faculty award

Penelope Davies might have received Amarillo College’s highest faculty award, but she’s not hoarding the glory.

“Everything that I have accomplished has been by kind people willing to come forward and share their words of wisdom with me and lend that helping hand,” said Davies, a math instructor who received the 2016 John F. Mead Faculty Excellence Award.

Davies was instrumental in redesigning algebra, trigonometry and calculus courses to increase student engagement and better prepare students for more advanced coursework, according to a news release posted on AC’s website.
