A teacher accused of duping Bright Ideas Charter School, Rider High School and Midwestern State University into thinking he was a certified teacher has been indicted on a charge of tampering with government/school records — but a larger charge against him was dropped.

A longtime partnership between PlainsCapital Bank and the Lubbock Independent School District expanded in a big way Thursday with the announcement of a $3 million gift to the school district.

The gift is for the naming rights to the sports complex to be called PlainsCapital Park, said John Owens, PlainsCapital West Texas region chairman.

PlainsCapital Park includes:

■ Lowrey Field, where Coronado, Monterey, Estacado and Lubbock high schools play home football games.

■ Moegle Field, where Monterey High School plays home baseball games.
