Belton ISD sets tax rate hearing

The Belton Independent School District board of trustees called a special meeting for Monday in the banquet room at The Gin at Nolan Creek to address three main items on the agenda.The board unanimously approved a temporary construction easement to the city of Temple for construction at North Belton Middle School. The use of the easement is scheduled to be reviewed Thursday by the Temple City Council. More on this story can be found Wednesday in The Telegram’s back-to-school issue.The biggest item discussed was regarding the proposed tax rate for the 2015-16 school year. The board unanimously passed a motion to officially set a public hearing for the proposal at the regular monthly meeting on Aug. 17. This hearing is a requirement to remain in compliance with the Texas truth-in- taxation laws.
